FAQ

Is Hotfix 1 the full launch patch?
No. The official 5 September 2026 post frames it as an Early Access hotfix and says a larger patch is coming.
Did Hotfix 1 list every broken challenge?
No. It says some challenges were not counting without naming the full set. Log the chapter and objective if a tick fails.
Does the Series S note apply to Series X?
The official wording is Xbox Series S Performance Mode display errors on some screens. Do not extend it to Series X or Quality Mode.

What did IllFonic publish for Hotfix 1?

The official news post Early Access Hotfix 1 is dated 5 September 2026 at halloweengame.com/news/early-access-hotfix-1. It is a maintenance note for Deluxe Early Access, not a 1.0 patch dump and not a promise that every community bug is closed. The same post says a larger patch is already in progress.

Read the developer wording on the official URL. This wiki rewrites the list so we are not mirroring the news post sentence-for-sentence, but we do not add bugs the post did not name.

Which crash and tracking checks are worth repeating?

If you crashed in a 1v4 match before 5 September, update, then repeat the smallest reproduction: same platform, same mode, same map if you know it, same number of players. One clean session is not a fix. Two matched reproductions that no longer crash are a useful note for the beginner guide.

Challenge tracking is easier to over-claim. The official note says some challenges were not counting. It does not publish a list of which campaign rows were broken. Until IllFonic names them, this wiki will not invent a “safe” challenge set. If a story-mode chapter challenge fails to tick, record the chapter name, the rewritten objective, and whether you were on Hotfix 1.

How does Offline Play collide with the login queue?

Steam lists Offline Play as a category flag. Hotfix 1 says the login queue could affect Offline Play. That is a narrow, official sentence. It is not a full design document that splits campaign, private matches, and 1v4 into offline-capable buckets. Do not write “the whole campaign works offline” or “multiplayer is offline” from that one line.

If you are testing, write down: queue visible yes/no, Offline Play entry visible yes/no, mode you tried, result. Attach that log to the modes overview only after you have a dated build string.

What is the Xbox Series S display issue?

Hotfix 1 names Xbox Series S Performance Mode display errors on some monitors. That is not a Series X claim and not a Quality Mode claim. If you are on Series S, test Performance Mode after the hotfix and note the display model. If you are on Series X or PC, do not treat this row as your crash explanation.

Before and after checklist for confirming whether Hotfix 1 changed a reproduced crash

The Xbox Series page keeps the store ID, player-count string, and this hotfix row together so console buyers are not sent to Steam specs.

What Hotfix 1 does not authorize this wiki to say?

It does not publish ability numbers, perk names, a complete crash hash list, or a guarantee that Myers standup prompts now always appear. It does not move the 8 September standard launch. It does not put the game on Game Pass.

If a content creator says “Hotfix 1 nerfed Shape Jump,” ask for a clip with a build date. Official ability coverage names Shape Jump; it does not give a cooldown, and Hotfix 1 does not mention that tool. Keep ability discussion on the Myers abilities page and patch discussion here.

How should you report a remaining issue?

Use a small report that another player can reproduce: platform and model, game mode, map or chapter, the action immediately before the fault, whether the issue was a crash, missing prompt, tracking failure, queue stall, or display error, and the date of the build. A screenshot of the store or patch page can establish context, but it cannot prove that an unlisted mechanic changed. Keep the original behavior and the post-hotfix result in separate lines. That prevents a community report from becoming an invented changelog entry.

If a challenge still does not count, name the exact challenge instead of claiming that all campaign tracking is broken. Use the story hub for its chapter name, the modes overview for Offline Play context, and the Xbox Series page if the Series S display note applies.

When the larger patch lands, this page should gain a sibling article or a clearly dated addendum. Do not overwrite Hotfix 1 history with the next note.
